As we look back over 2010, we at Matrix on Board understand why we feel like celebrating, why we feel a little giddy, slightly fatigued and very enthusiastic about beginning 2011. We have had a year of growth, exploration, and outreach. We have found new ways to strengthen, support and resource organisations. We have empowered individuals. While we pause now at the end of the year, we want to look back at our accomplishments and our discoveries and, of course, at the many ways our partners and clients make our work so rewarding.
Sharing FABO love
What a wonderful event the FABO Awards are for us. From the launch of the 2010 FABOs in June through to the gala award celebration in October, we heard countless stories of selfless, tireless endeavors made by caring Finance, Administration and Back Office workers in our Third Sector. We enjoyed ‘sharing the love’ with all of you, and we appreciated how the FABOs shaped the purpose in all of our work throughout the year. We can’t wait to hear the stories about nominees for the 2011 FABO Awards!
Matrix on Board Training on a mission
Matrix on Board Training not only celebrated its first anniversary as its own entity but also achieved accreditation as a Registered Training Organisation. The amount of effort MoB people have poured into MoBT’s birth and progression is mind boggling and we are thrilled with the results. We are fully committed to our training mission, and it has been very well-received throughout the Sector.
FMRSU service delivery
MoB continues to deliver financial literacy education and training services through the Financial Management Resource Support Unit funded by FaHCSIA under the Financial Management Program. FMRSU educates, resources and empowers individuals through many avenues including Money Management and Emergency Relief services. We are proud and honoured to be a part of the mission to build financial inclusion and resilience. Look for the official launch of the FMRSU website February 2011.
We also launched MoneyMob Talkabout in April this year, a program funded by FaHCSIA, to deliver financial literacy education to Aboriginal communities. We are happy to be a part of the delivery of this two-way learning based project and have enjoyed meeting many wonderful people as the Talkabout Troopies take us to communities across Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland.
Core commitment, new services, partnerships, connections
Cloud Accounting is one of the new services we developed this year, providing flexibility and tailored solutions to meet any client’s budget, skills and needs. We introduced our clients to tools and solutions offered by businesses such as JustRosters, appiChar and Salesforce. We shared opportunities: MYOB’s ‘Love Your Work’ $20K grant, CIIC’s ‘Biztro’, Social Trader’s ‘The Crunch’, NDS Good Governance. We attended and provided training at events: Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair on behalf of ANKAAA, Cairns Indigenous Art Fair and SNAICC Conference Alice Springs.
We continued our core services to organisations in the areas of Financial Management, Management Support, Training and Development. MoB took the pain out of end-of-year audits for 52 non-profit organisations in Melbourne and Sydney alone.
We reached out in 2010 through a new website, Facebook, Twitter, the MoB Blog and newsletters. Our aim is to continue to help non-profits forge connections, share ideas and strengthen the entire sector. We plan in 2011 to encourage more two-way communications, and we hope you will share your experiences, goals, needs and ideas with us.
The experiences we’ve had this year with third sector organisations have enriched our working lives and helped us renew our core commitments while expanding the services and support we offer. Thank you for partnering with us to inform, strengthen and resource non-profit organisations and social enterprises throughout Australia!
