My best friend over the last few weeks has become a measuring tape. “Why?” you may ask, because I’ve measured nearly every piece of furniture in the Sydney office to ensure it fits into our new open plan office.
I’ve been at Matrix on Board for just over two months now and if someone had said to me that I would be project managing the demolition of office walls to create an open plan between two office suites I would have said they were crazy. But, I am doing exactly that!
This is an exciting move, particularly for the NSW team as they’ll soon be seated within paper throwing distance rather than having to march across the hall for a cuppa or a quick chat.
I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead – pushing contractors to stick to timeframes and budgets and ensuring the office has minimal disruption to our already busy workloads. Looks like there may be some staff keeping their jammies on for the day and working from home – what a shame that would be in this nice wintery weather.
Besides bashing walls and bossing around contractors, I’m also helping the Management Services NSW team with a big project they are doing for NDS, by flying them off to all parts of the countryside, and really enjoying my time at MoB so far.
