by Meryem Ali, Administrator, at Matrix on Board in Sydney

I thought it would be easy to write this blog, but has proven to be a fun challenge.

I have spent a bit of time musing over life at Matrix… what do I focus on? What style do I use? After all, at Matrix we do what we do in style!

Having arrived fresh (actually that’s not true ….I was a bit disheveled) from the NFP sector 3 years ago I fell into the Matrix mob. We were a very small team then. The Victoria and subsequent NT offices were a mere speck in the horizon and only a concept. I must admit to my amazement at our steady growth spurt, which from a somewhat fortunate position as one of the Administrators’, I’ve been able to observe and be a part of. Come to think of it, back then we only needed 1 Administrator now we have several skilled people supporting the back office of Matrix.

As is its name suggests, one of the images that comes to mind when I think about the qualities of Matrix on Board is that of a scientific matrix, a well tuned machine that possesses knowledge, organisation, accuracy, professionalism and dare I say it mathematics of what we provide to clients.

The other image is that of a spider web. For one thing, the web of technology is a tool we have been working on and with to provide our clients innovative approaches to get what they need to do what they do best in providing necessary services to their communities.

For me, the web is a flexible yet strong resource that shows how Matrix has connected and maintained its relationships with individuals and groups. The web represents a value that is high on our list of priorities, which at its root; the basic building blocks of these relationships. It’s a wondrous thing how each member of staff takes an idea and works at building trust and developing strong relationships in the community. I admire how the teams can perform this sometimes delicate balancing act. We are a cooperative organism that works hard to ensure we deliver the best possible service to our clients.

So here I am a few years in the job learning new skills, gaining knowledge but mostly enjoying the people I work with and the opportunity to contribute something of value to Matrix and our clients.
