by Nerida Nettelbeck Managing Director.. On the launch of the MoneyMob Talkabout program by Jenny Macklin, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs on 13 April 2010.
I woke
up to the soothing sound of tropical rain falling on the tin roof of the Katherine Resort. As my mind became fully conscious and the weariness of a sleepless night left me I became aware of what the rain would mean……100 people crammed under the resource centre at Kalano Community Association, ankle deep in water! I opened the door of my room to see the brightly colored MoneyMob Talkabout vehicle shimmering under the enormous drops of rain and I thought, oh well, at least the vehicles are getting a good wash.
We arrived out at Kalano just as the rain slowed down, it was a bit wet underfoot everything else was perfect.
We met the Money Management Workers from Kalano who were preparing the food for the launch. The sporting club was there to cook the meat for the BBQ.
Andrew, Ian, Lorraine, Joy and Matt had all done a fantastic job of not only developing the whole program before the day but of making sure the day was well organised and everything was setup on time.
Fiona and the team from the Launch Box did an awe some job of organizing media, FaHCSIA and liaison with the Minister’s office.
It was fantastic seeing the children so engaged in learning about money……..
A perfect launch!
I couldn’t have asked for another thing, I’m tickled pink and as proud as punch of what was achieved by Matrix On Board, well done to all of us!
Now we are ready to hit the road with MoneyMob Talkabout!
